Verso il vantaggio quantistico: simulatori quantistici per la fisica fondamentale

A partire dall’intuizione di Feynman, il progetto esplora piattaforme quantistiche avanzate per simulare sistemi fisici complessi, con l’obiettivo di raggiungere il vantaggio quantistico e rivoluzionare la ricerca in fisica teorica e applicata.

Towards Quantum Advantage: Quantum Simulators for Fundamental Physics

Inspired by Feynman’s vision, the project explores advanced quantum platforms to simulate complex physical systems, aiming to achieve quantum advantage and transform both theoretical and applied physics research.

Abstract

In a seminal paper in 1982, R. Feynman emphasized that “the proper problem is the simulation of quantum physics”, putting forwardthe idea to perform an exact simulation on what we now call a quantum simulator (QS).Forty years later, we are witnessing a worldwide theoretical and technological effort to build actual devices able to reach thethreshold of “quantum advantage”. Research groups, start-ups and leading tech companies now provide general purpose platforms, based on superconducting junctions or trapped cold atoms/ions, and a variety of other purpose-oriented apparatuses (such asintegrated photonic or cavity QED structures).
