Mapping the Stellar Mass of the Galactic Halo

The EFEBHO project uses RR Lyrae data and advanced theoretical models to reconstruct the 3D stellar mass distribution of the halo and understand its early formation and evolution.

Abstract

EFEBHO will fully exploit our statistically complete RRL catalog to robustly quantify the 3D stellar mass distribution of the Halo. Thiswill be achieved by using public cutting-edge RRL datasets (including Gaia) and by complementing them with our forefront uniqueancillary datasets (spectroscopy, photometry) and with state-of-the-art theoretical modelling (stellar pulsation, chemo-dynamical,N-body/hydrodynamical simulations). On this basis, we will conclusively determine the Halo early formation and evolution andsignificantly improve dynamical, chemical and pulsation studies, where our team is internationally competitive.
