The X-Ray absorption fine structure is a powerful tool to analyze the local structure of an extraordinary variety of samples, from thin films to amorphous ones.

This technique has been used to analyze the structure of Zinc octaethylporphyrin, a very promising molecule for photovoltaic applications, in ordered and disordered thin films.

Data analysis has been performed using multiple scattering paths with a smart management of the Debye Waller factors. In order to understand light exited structural changes in this kind of molecules, a time resolved XAFS analysis has been performed using the Bach beamline setup for TRXAFS.

Some structural changes have been detected about 1.4 ns after the laser excitation.
