Abstract.

When storing tens of PetaBytes of data, magnetic tape plays an important role in large data archives. CERN, for several decades, has been using magnetic tapes to store experiment's data.

This talk describes the operational challenges and the solutions developed at CERN to manage the tape archive efficiently.
